Cookies and browser storage
SpectrumFox uses a small amount of browser storage to run the assessment and to measure, in aggregate, how people find the site. There are no advertising cookies.
Draft for owner review. This page has not yet been approved and may change.
Storage set by SpectrumFox
- First visit record (local storage): the page you landed on, the referring site and campaign tags, so a later purchase can be credited to the channel that brought you.
- Assessment progress (local storage): the statements and your own answers, so you can resume an unfinished attempt on the same device. It is removed as soon as you finish the assessment, and when you delete your data. Results are never stored in the browser.
- Result key (local storage): after you finish, only a private key for your attempt stays, so you can reopen your result on this device. After payment a second key reopens your report. Both are removed when you delete your data.
- Payment confirmation (session storage): the checkout reference while your payment is confirmed, cleared when you close the tab or delete your data.
- Experiment arms (a signed, HttpOnly cookie set by our server, kept for up to one year): keeps the page version and price you were shown consistent between visits.
- An anonymous visitor identifier for first-party analytics. The server stores only a salted hash of it.
Google Analytics
On the production site we use Google Analytics with advertising features and ad storage turned off everywhere. It receives page views and event names only, never answers or results. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default, so Google receives cookieless measurements only. Elsewhere it may set its standard first-party cookies (names starting with _ga).
How to control it
You can clear or block site storage in your browser settings at any time. The assessment still works; you may lose the ability to resume an unfinished attempt on that device.
